IP Look Up Questions
Why can my IP location show a different city?
Your ISP may route traffic through infrastructure in another city or region. VPNs, mobile carriers, and corporate networks can also change the location associated with the public IP.
Can an IP lookup show my exact address?
No. Public IP geolocation is approximate. It can provide network and regional context, but should not be treated as proof of a precise physical address.
Does my public IP stay the same?
Not always. Many providers assign dynamic public IP addresses, so the address can change after reconnecting or over time.
What is an ASN?
An Autonomous System Number identifies the network that announces a group of internet routes. It is useful for understanding provider and routing ownership.
